Title: Lawrence of Arabia Trail – Clouds Hill and Moreton
Description: Circular walk on firm, sandy paths through the Moreton pine plantation, crossing the wide shallows of the River Frome at Longbridge to Moreton. We pass memorial plaques to where T E Lawrence was killed, visit St Nicholas Church, with Laurence Whistler engraved windows – where T E Lawrence’s funeral was held – and his grave. We return via The Glade.
There is an option to visit the attractive Moreton Tea Rooms where Lawrence memorabilia are on show.

Parking: Parking/tank viewing area on Bovington Camp Road, 200 yards south of Lawrence of Arabia’s cottage. Grid reference SY 826 904.
Directions to the Start: Depart Swanage on the A351 through Corfe Castle, first exit at the first roundabout and in 2.5 miles take second exit at the next roundabout onto the Wareham bypass.
At the third roundabout take the A352 left to Wool/Weymouth. In 0.5 miles take right turn onto Puddletown Road signposted Worgret Heath. Travel for 4 miles on this road passing many sand and gravel extraction pits.
At T-junction turn right and then almost immediately left onto a road signed Bovington and Tincleton. In 1.3 miles turn left onto Bovington Camp Road to the parking/viewing area 0.3 miles on the left, passing the sign for Lawrence’s cottage also on the left.
Journey of about 18 miles allow 40 minutes travelling time.
